Elie Vannier, a former Swiss journalist who started out at RMC before moving on to RTL, then Director of Information at Antenne 2, is also an accomplished businessman. His solid academic background includes a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Nice and a DEA in Political Science from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
He decided to enter the business world by becoming Director of Diversification at the Strafor-Facom metallurgical group. He also held the position of Chairman of the Board of various international groups, notably in Europe, the United States and Latin America.
In 1991, he was appointed Managing Director of the French subsidiary of the bank Morgan, Grenfell & Co, while also assuming the role of Associate Director in London. In 1997, he joined the Grand Vision optical group as Group Managing Director.
In parallel with his career, Élie Vannier shares his expertise as a professor at Sciences Po Paris, teaching “Strategy and international corporate development”, while also chairing the French Center for the Study of Corporate Governance.
His commitment extends internationally as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the fine chemicals group Hovione Holding in Hong Kong. He is also a professor at Peking University in China.
At the age of 74, Élie Vannier has enjoyed a rich and varied career, combining journalism, corporate management, teaching and international involvement in the business world.
