Enthusiasm and confidence launch the start.
Paul Robertet acquires and renames the company. A new model factory, designed by Gustave Eiffel, houses a demanding production that is rewarded with a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900. An international reputation is born.
Robertet patents the first process for the manufacture of instant coffee.
Robertet transfers its head office from Paris to Grasse, the cradle of French perfumery.
Driven by Jean-Baptiste Maubert, Robertet’s accomplishments are rewarded with a gold medal at the Universal Exposition of 1900.
Maurice Maubert, son of Jean-Baptiste, assumes management of the business.
Maurice Maubert breaks ground with new methods of obtaining natural essences: first, the “Colorless” essences in 1935, then the authentic and reliable scents of the “Butaflors” in 1950. Innovation and tenacity triumph with admiration from Parisian perfumers: Guerlain, Chanel, Patou.
A new generation brings revolution: Jean and Paul Maubert invest in fragrancing compositions, explore food flavors and open new facilities to produce natural ingredients. The company expands in Europe, America and Asia. It forges valuable partnerships, sets up model extraction facilities, establishes subsidiaries and their development, research, and quality control laboratories.
A new site in Plan-de-Grasse brings new technology and increases production as the markets for food flavoring and natural ingredients boom.
The listing of Robertet on the Paris Stock Exchange marks the independence of the company.
The acquisition of Jay Flavors enables Robertet to assert its leadership in the field of natural flavors in the United States.
Philippe Maubert assumes the presidency, acting with his brothers Christophe and Olivier. The fourth generation drives a decade of unprecedented growth: while building a high-tech model factory for food flavors in the USA, the fragrance division grows stronger; raw materials are produced and processed on site in South Africa; in 2001, the group acquires Belgian flavorist PAB (Robertet Savoury); 2006 sees the opening of a New York Creation Center on 5th Avenue.
A major development program is underway: The acquisition of Charabot in 2007, as part of an original agreement that guarantees the Group’s presence in Grasse for the future; the construction of a plant in China; a joint venture with a large Indian group that includes an industrial project; an investment of $ 30 million in the United States in the expansion of the Flavor division, an investment in the capital of SAPAD, specializing in essential oils and plants derived from organic agriculture.
When Sapad joins the Robertet Group in 2007, it opens access to sources ever more respectful of the earth and people, without pesticides or chemicals, which is part of the Group’s stated vision. SAPAD becomes our standard bearer for organic products. In direct relations with the Robertet Group’s raw materials division, SAPAD is pursuing a program of research and innovation that will optimize our ability to respond and allow us to anticipate the needs of our customers.
Construction at Plan-de-Grasse of a new mixing plant designed for fragrancing compositions. The plant is more than 80% automated representing an investment of nearly 25 Million Euros, with a production capacity of 4200 T / year.
Integrating Bionov allows Robertet to offer a new natural ingredient in the food supplement market and more generally in the field of nutrition and health, an area in which Robertet wishes to develop significantly. This acquisition fits perfectly with the group’s strategy of mastering all the processes of its products, from the cultivation of raw materials to the extraction and marketing of innovative ingredients.
By investing in Sirius, specialist of Organic Essential Oils and Floral Waters, Robertet is strengthening its leading position in Organic products. This operation consolidates the Group’s sourcing through new integrated channels and is a logical continuation of the integration of SAPAD. This acquisition is also an opportunity for the Robertet Group to offer a service of turnkey well-being products range.
“We are convinced that the future of natural products will be organic.”
Philippe Maubert, Chairman of Robertet Group

François Destoumieux, President of Astier Demarest
