ROBERTET INAUGURATES A NEW DISPENSARY IN MADAGASCAR
On September 25, the Robertet Group, through its NGO BNS care in Madagascar, inaugurated a new dispensary to benefit the village of Andravinambo in the SAVA region, where the vanilla production cooperative is located. Stéphanie Groult – Group Purchasing Director – visited the site. Dr Florent Jean-Razafy – Regional Public Health Physician for the Sava Region attended the inauguration alongside the NGO BNS Care and its President Stéphanie Groult.
Spacious new premises, equipped with water and electricity and adapted to medical standards, as well as the necessary medical equipment, were erected. This village dispensary will enable local residents to receive medical care on site, without having to travel to the city. Nurses work full-time on site, and a doctor will visit several times a week. Basic care, treatment of serious illnesses, childbirth and paediatric services will be provided.
Robertet guarantees the producers’ cooperative in the SAVA region a stable income, fair prices and long-term commitments to guarantee the purchase of vanilla beans. Our vanilla chain has helped to revive an entire economy in this remote village, and to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, starting with schooling for their children. As a result, Robertet was the first to be audited and certified Fair For Life for its vanilla chain! What’s more, 170 hectares of the farm are dedicated to organic, Ecocert-certified cultivation.
The NGO BNSCARE was created in 2018 in Antalaha with the following mission: Improving the socio-economic environment and living conditions of the population to strengthen their ability to produce beautiful vanilla in complete serenity. The economic growth of the population through rural, human and environmental development. And above all, support for women and men in economic diversification and access to education and health care, for a continuous improvement in daily living conditions.
Our NGO aspires to be a reference organization for disadvantaged communities in the Sava region, in order to improve the conditions and quality of life for everyone. To achieve this, BNSCARE works in various aspects of daily life such as the socio-economic environment, the living conditions of the population, poverty.
In 2018, BNSCARE rehabilitated the ANDRAVINAMBO public elementary school and has been distributing school supplies to all children at the start of each new school year.
In 2020, we rebuilt the preschool into a permanent structure. From a small, unsecured wooden hut, the school was fitted with floor-to-ceiling breeze-block walls, creating a sturdy edifice that will stand the test of time.
